Our 2026 Impact Report: Impact & Insights from Worker Ownership

Our 2026 Impact Report is here, capturing the full story of how worker ownership is creating jobs worth owning across the country. The report highlights how workers are building voice, wealth, and power in their cooperatives, demonstrating the deep impact of this model across home care, child care, and worker buyouts

We’re thrilled to share the Fund for Jobs Worth Owning’s 2026 Impact Report, a milestone that captures the story of our first chapter and the work we've done together. Since our first investment in 2020, FJWO has supported dozens of worker‑owned cooperatives across the country, helping hundreds of workers become first-time business owners with real voice and power. This report brings the story of this work together, pairing the lived experiences of worker‑owners with the quantitative impact of our model.

For years, we’ve published individual borrower stories on our website, home care cooperatives stabilizing care in rural communities, child care centers preserving vital slots for families, and worker buyouts where employees become owners. This report shows how these stories connect to a single mission of creating jobs worth owning.

Because of FJWO’s deep history of providing financial training and hands‑on business support, we’ve long had rich data on revenue, profitability, and performance. What we hadn’t done, until now, was step back and look at that data longitudinally, across the entire portfolio, to understand the full impact of worker ownership over time.

Inside this report, you’ll find the metrics that define the first chapter of our work:

  • Hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit‑sharing distributed to worker‑owners
  • Millions in business assets transferred to workers through cooperative conversions
  • 400%+ leverage on our capital, catalyzing aligned investment into worker ownership
  • 176 first‑time business owners created, and nearly 400 jobs created and preserved
  • A portfolio where 78% of borrowers are women‑owned and 39% are BIPOC‑owned.

The report also features case studies across home care, child care, and worker buyouts, along with reflections from key partners like Wells Fargo and Unlock Ownership, investors who believe, as we do, that workers deserve ownership, voice, and economic power.

This is an exciting moment for FJWO. The Impact Report shows what’s possible when workers lead, when capital is aligned with dignity and democracy, and when ownership is placed directly in the hands of the people who are at their companies every day.

The Fund for Jobs Worth Owning is the leading expert in providing financing strategies for worker-centered business.
